PERCUSSIONIST, COMPOSER, PRODUCER, TABLA, CAJON, LATIN PERCUSSION, DJEMBE, SONGWRITER AND SOUNDSCAPIST.
Renu is the definition of a consummate and original musician. To describe her as talented would be an understatement. Primarily she is a professional tabla player. In itself, this would make her unique. Female tabla players are rare. However, she is much more than this. Renu is a multi-percussionist that has studied across the globe. She has performed with so many artistes that to list them all would take considerable time. She is a composer, songwriter and producer of two finely crafted albums, Love from London (2011) and Midnight Radio (2012), on which she also plays acoustic guitar and drums. (Taken from 'Feminism,Music,Renu' by B. M. PICKETT)
Renu (also known as Renu Hossain) started her musical journey around 2000. Playing for bands in the latter part of the Asian Underground electronic scene.
Her quest for musical experiences and journeys have taken her on solo trips to INDIA for the Tabla, CUBA for Latin percussion, BRAZIL and SPAIN for Flamenco music.
Her voracious desire for music has led her to play percussion for Punk bands, Ghazal singers, Bengali devotional singers, Folk Music, Contemporary Dancers, Indian Classical dancers, Bharatnatyam dancers, Electronic artists, Andean Music, Congalese music, Indian Classical music, Rock etc etc etc...
Primarily a Performance Percussionist and Recording artist she has worked for Grace Jones, State of Bengal, Tunde Jegede, MIKA, Fun-Da-Mental, Kevin Davy Jazz D'semble and Alabama 3.
Renu is now venturing into Photography and film-making…..creating visual stories for her music.

PRS FUNDED TOUR WITH BLACKDOWN KEYSOUND
'The live percussionist Renu was probably one of the best musician's I have ever seen. Her ability to play traditional tabla and percussive instruments at such a rapidfire rate and yet in complete synchronisation with the electronic elements was outstanding. She was honestly my favourite part of the show. If I ever have the money I'd like to pay her to live in my house and soundtrack my day it would blatantly make my life feel like an adventure.'
